Helping Young People To Succeed
|
Changing peoples lives... Most of us take for granted the opportunities we had in early life - a good home, education, security - but these are not the experience of everyone. The Princes Trust offers financial assistance, training, personal development, advice and support to young people who need some help to be able to fulfil their ambitions, improve their skills and make a real contribution to their community or the environment. Some need a job or somewhere to live. Some have a business idea they are keen to pursue but lack the financial resources and knowledge. Some need support to realise an ambition or to improve their exam results. Some want to work with others and play an active part in their community. Others want to work and share experience with their counterparts in Europe and beyond. We help young people in thousands of individual ways, and very often they go on to give back something in return. Several have achieved the highest level in their field, showing the way by example. Others have set up businesses of great originality which have become commercial successes. A number now work with The Trust - helping other young people to develop their own potential. ...by making things happen In 21 years The Trust has achieved remarkable things. Over 28,000 young entrepreneurs have started their own businesses, creating thousands of new jobs. More than 120,000 young people have realised their ambition in the arts, music, sport, the environment and education. Over 10,000 young people have participated in personal development training in the community. Throughout the United Kingdom, The Trust has helped young people to fulfil their potential and make more of their lives. At the same time, those young people have made a huge difference to the lives of others around them. They have contributed to their communities in many practical and innovative ways through thousands of social and environmental projects. People have been inspired by The Trust even in other parts of the world, from Eastern Europe to South Africa. But there is always more to be done, as the next 20 years will doubtless show. Gearing up for the next millennium, the charities which make up The Princes Trust are prepared for the challenges ahead. We are keen to support new opportunities and projects which point to different ways of responding to and working with disadvantaged young people. The success of this campaign will enable us to do a great deal more. |
